Access Statement
General
The Car Park is a level grass field. A slightly sloping path consisting
of compacted stone chippings leads to the Garden and Tea Room entrances and on
to the Lavatories and Plant Sales areas. All are situated within 35m of the Car
Park. There are 2 lavatories, both equipped with grab handles and sanitary ware
designed for use by the disabled. Dogs are permitted in all areas except the
Tea Room. Assistance dogs are permitted in the Tea Room.
Tea Room
The Tea Room is accessed by low threshold doors. A call button is
provided to summon assistance if required. The floor is level throughout with a
ramp providing access to the Tea Terrace. This has ramp access to the Plant
Sales area and Lavatories. Large print menus are available and staff will
assist with selection from the menu if required. Staff will communicate with
visitors in writing if appropriate.
Gardens
The gardens are situated on sloping ground (average gradient about 1in
20 [5%]). Paths are of compacted stone chippings or grass. The majority of the
gardens can be viewed from the paths. Visitors are permitted access to all
grassed areas. The main path, which runs the full length of the gardens, is
approximately 200m long. Seats are provided throughout the gardens.
